The Nordic summit Who Makes the News? was held in Copenhagen February 5th 2026. The conference highlighted gender equality in news media, building on results from the Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) 2025. Researchers, journalists, editors, policymakers, and civil society met in Copenhagen to present global and Nordic findings, share good practices, and strengthen collaboration. The conference marked 30 years since the Beijing Platform for Action and aim was to inspire the media industry to take greater responsibility for equal and diverse representation. By showcasing progress and challenges, the summit contributed to a more democratic media landscape where freedom of expression is expanded.
